Abstract

One hundred-fifty root and soil samples were collected from chickpea, lentil, common bean and broad bean fields in several localities of Lorestan province, during years 2010-2011. After extraction, fixation and transferring to anhydrous glycerol, the nematodes were mounted on microscopic slides and identified at species level, based on morphometical and morphological characters, using a light microscope equipped with digital camera. In this study, 19 species of stomatostylet bearing nematodes, infraorder/order Tylenchomorpha/Tylenchida, were identified. Five species viz. Aphelenchoides cyrtus, Ditylenchus medicaginis, Merlinius brevidens, D. parvus andParatylenchus coronatus with 37.6, 30.8, 24.6, 20.5 and 19.1 percent frequency, respectively, were the most common nematode species in the legume fields of Lorestan province. Among nine cities of the province, most species were collected from Alashtar (19 species) Khorramabad (15 species), Borujerd (14 species), Dorood (13 species), Noorabad (12 species), Koohdasht (11 species), Azna and Aligoodarz (10 species) and Pol-e-Dokhtar (eight species), respectively. Amplimerlinius paraglobigerus and Helichotylenchus scoticus are new records for the nematofauna of Iran, and D. medicaginis and D. parvus are re-described herein.
